As of November 2017, I am a complete newbie to photography! I am excited to offer my services extremely discounted or free while I am learning and building my skills (see below). These discount prices are available for a strictly limited time.
FREE with Birth Doula Service and Nurtured Mamas Program*
If you book me as a birth doula and you would like me to take some photos, I can do this for free during your birth. I can also include a maternity shoot (in your home) during one of our prenatal visits.
For clients attending the Nurtured Mamas Program, I can take some maternity shots during one of our monthly group meetings for free. The Nurtured Mamas Program is included with most of my services, namely, birth doula, childbirth education, hypnobirthing and postnatal doula services.
Maternity Shoot $100*
This includes us hanging out for about 30-40 minutes on location in the Macarthur area, while I take photos of you, your beautiful belly and your family (if they are coming along). I will edit up to 10 photos and give you all the photos I took unedited as well (in JPEG format).
Birth Photography $200*
This includes approximately 4 hours of photography during your birth and editing up to 20 photos. I will also give you all the photos I took unedited so that you can get them edited by someone more experienced. Photos will be in JPEG format.
I have a creative spirit although I wouldn't describe myself as "arty". I write songs and poetry, I sing, I play the piano, guitar, and trumpet and have dabbled in a bit of drawing. These have been outlets of self expression and reflection rather than avenues for performance. In addition to my creative side, I enjoy gaining new skills and have an aptitude for learning. I have also been a doula and childbirth educator for over 7 years. I am gentle, warm and friendly. :)
Obviously I'm still developing my style as I've only just started. But I think I can safely say that I love observational-style photography. I love capturing life's little "moments". I'm not into posing or artificially constructed frames. I am also practising to take photos without a flash as this will be important during births.
I just wanted to give you some examples of the very first photos I've taken with my camera. I have literally NEVER used a DSLR before nor have I ever studied photography. These photos are also not edited, so you can see them in all their raw glory. ;) I think they are pretty good for a complete beginner? Click on the thumbnails below to expand to a slideshow.
Thank you for giving me an opportunity to practise and learn with you! :)
I have two very dear friends who supported me during my last pregnancy and birth and took some beautiful photos. I had not had professional photos in any of my previous pregnancies/births. This experience showed me how wonderful it is to capture the beautiful moments of pregnancy and birth. I will treasure these memories and photos forever. Below is a selection of my favourite pics. You can check out Rosanna and Ellen's work at their respective websites below.
I will be shooting with a full frame Nikon D610 with a 50mm f1.8G prime lens.

One final note...
While I am learning, I cannot guarantee the quality of the photos I will produce. I have invested in high quality gear however I do not have a back up DSLR camera and I only have one lens (for now!). As an emergency back up I will have with me my iPhone7+ which has an excellent "point and shoot" camera. This service is ideal for those who have a very small budget and who don't mind giving a student photographer a go. I will gladly refer you to a more experienced photographer (I know several!) if you want to be guaranteed a good number of high quality photos.
